Share YOUR vision of an age-friendly Durham on Saturday, May 19, by taking part in Aging Well in Durham. This free community event will be held at the Durham County Human Services Building, 414 E. Main St. Participant check-in and a resource fair will begin at 9 a.m. with a conference to follow from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Senior PharmAssist will be on hand to share information, and Community Services Director Katie Huffman will provide timely updates about Medicare. Other topics on the agenda include Developing a Durham Aging Plan, Mental Health and Aging, and Locating and Connecting to Services and Supports in Durham.

Senior PharmAssist and the state Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) regularly co-host Medicare 101 education sessions. These free, two-hour seminars, led by Gary Knutson of NC SHIIP, are held in the theater at the Durham Center for Senior Life. If you are new to Medicare, a caregiver or just want to understand the basics, please join us from 2 to 4 p.m. on one of the following dates:

Senior PharmAssist hosts regular meetings of the Durham Medicare Rx Network here at the Durham Center for Senior Life. In addition to our program, this partnership of front-line providers includes staff at the Durham Center, the Department of Social Services, the local Social Security office, Lincoln Community Health Center, discharge planners and social workers at the local hospitals, and others. Our group discusses Medicare topics beyond the basics and Part D.
