Medicare Beneficiaries Invited to Durham County Town Hall Meeting

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey and the Senior PharmAssist, Inc. invite Medicare beneficiaries to a SHIIP Town Hall Meeting to learn more about Medicare and available cost savings programs. SHIIP, the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program, is a division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance that provides free unbiased Medicare counseling in all 100 counties of North Carolina.

The Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for September 17th from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Trinity Avenue Presbyterian Church in Durham. This event is free and open to the public with refreshments provided. Participants will have the opportunity to meet Commissioner Causey and local officials and ask questions about Medicare and other insurance issues.

SHIIP has been serving Medicare beneficiaries in North Carolina for more than 30 years and trains volunteer counselors across the state to provide assistance to the Medicare beneficiaries in their home counties. Senior PharmAssist, Inc. is the SHIIP counseling site for Durham County. Under the direction of Katie Huffman, Durham County has 28 trained SHIIP volunteer counselors ready to help their neighbors with their Medicare needs.
